Having received hundreds of submission requests, the pool of candidates for our editors to review is most certainly getting larger and larger every day. And though we would love to be able to quickly run through every single title and give it its deserved attention, there simply isn’t enough time to do so in a quick fashion. As a result, some titles may spend weeks, months, even years waiting to get reviewed. This is because titles are not reviewed in order, but rather, our editors pick and choose what they wish to read at any given time.
This is to maximize the chances that titles will be paired with the right reviewer, as there is no real point for someone that enjoys literary fiction to read a horror story; the review will most likely not be well placed, as the editor in question is not your target audience.
In order to create a more movable list, we have introduced the EDW Author program. This membership involves a nominal yearly fee and allows our editors to give each title a lot more attention. In addition, it allows authors that want to receive feedback from Editors Weekly to be able to make their needs a priority over non-EDW Authors. This doesn’t mean non-EDW Authors won’t get reviewed – it just means there is no telling when, or if, an editor will be able to get to your work.
EDW Authors that submit any titles will have their books put to the top of the list, and so there is an EDW pool to pick from, and a non-EDW pool to pick from. Our editors will always pick from the EDW pool first, so if there are any titles waiting in the EDW pool, those will need to be reviewed before the non-EDW pool gets moving.
This applies to our book awards, spotlights, and any other author/title marketing mechanisms we have at Editors Weekly. EDW Author titles are always added to a priority pool and considered first when we are deciding on the titles we are going to focus on.
