- With a more thorough edit, The Cannibal Cure: A Paranormal Thriller would likely pass as an outstanding piece as it veers away from the cliches of a typical novel, while maintaining a brilliant balance of comfortability and suspense.
The Cannibal Cure: A Paranormal Thriller (The Protectors Book 2)
Injected with drama, adventure and suspense, The Cannibal Cure: A Paranormal Thriller throws you into a wonderfully crafted journey alongside Abby, David and their team who are investigating unnerving activity occurring in the streets of Seattle and the Seattle Underground. Faced with a series of challenges, threats and decisions, they must work together to determine who and how to stop the culprit before more people are harmed, and effectively utilize their shamanic magic, shapeshifting abilities, and combined knowledge and talents to do so while minimising any unwanted attention.
While there were some terms, concepts and themes that might be unfamiliar to readers who are accustomed to genres and books that are more popularly consumed, the presentation of these was done with little to fault, allowing for complete ease in understanding and experience throughout. Younger readers might appreciate this more due to the book’s more simplistic and specific nature, choice of language and exchanges between characters. The pace was almost as commendable with some fluctuations and gaps that could be omitted with a more thorough edit which would also improve some grammatical and formatting flaws. The settings, context and character development was also very well presented where transitions were hardly noticeable and the investment towards the characters was comfortably balanced.
Overall, The Cannibal Cure: A Paranormal Thriller is a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying read and confidently recommended for those who would like to experience a less predictable novel as it provides a good balance between suspense and resolution. However, its chosen language and presentation of themes could be more suited to newer or younger audiences, along with the need for a more careful edit throughout to alleviate the aforementioned criticisms related to grammar, formatting and pace.
